learners (grade 1 in Elementary School):
Activity
one (teaching listening and speaking using natural approach)
T : Assalamualaikum wr. wb.
Ss : Walaikumsalam wr. wb. Before we
study, let’s pray together. Jery, please!
Jery : My friends, let’s pray together! (praying in unison with loudly voices and
after that,
the chairman lead the other
students to give greeting to their teacher)
Greeting
to our teacher!
Ss : Good morning, Ma’am! How are you
today?
T : Good morning, smart students! I am
wonderful, thank you. And you?
Ss : We are very well, thank you.
T : Okay, let’s sing together!
Ss + T : (Singing
in unison)
T : Excellent! Oh, there is an empty
chair. (point an empty chair to make them
understand) Where
is Nina?
Ss : (Talking
to each other because they quite do not understand what the teacher says)
T : Smart students, where is Nina?
Ss : Sakit, Ma’am. (some of them say, “sick, Ma’am”)
T : Oh, I hope she will get better soon. Now,
Angi and Amel, please come in front!

Greta : It is Bonny. He has two eyes. He has one nose.
It is Cathy. She has one head. She has two
knees. She also has toes.
It is Andy. He has one mouth. He has
two shoulders.
It is Jenny. She has two cheeks. She has
two foots.
It is Kean. He has two hands. He has
two ears
Bonny, Cathy, Andy, Jenny, and Kean are
smart students.
Well my friends, that’s all my story.
Do you like it?
Ss : Yessss!
Greta : Okay, I will go home. Bye bye!

Ss : Aku, aku, aku!
T : Well, raise your hand and answer my
question, okay?
Ss : Okay, Ma’am!
T : I have two …. (while touching her eyes)
Amel : Me! (raises her hand and answers) eyes!
T : Very good, Amel! You may go home now!
Amel : Thank you, Ma’am! (Shake and kiss the teacher’s hand)
T : You’re welcome, Amel.
